Professional History

Mr. McNally has been an associate at Johnson Gallagher LLC since 2006.

He began his legal career at the New York office of Salans, an international law firm.

Prior to his admission to the Bar, Mr. McNally worked for several years in book publishing at Random House and Columbia University Press.

Derek McNally is a commercial litigator with experience in both state and federal litigation and in arbitration. He has represented clients in a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, securities, real estate and the construction industry, the art world, retail entertainment attractions, and the fashion industry. He has resolved or litigated disputes between shareholders, employment disputes, patent and intellectual property infringement actions, and shareholder derivative actions. Mr. McNally has experience in all aspects of litigation, taking a specific lead within the firm on issues related to complex and electronic discovery, along with the preparation of pleadings and motions, taking and defending depositions, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, participating in trials and arbitrations, and appellate practice. He has worked with clients ranging from small closely held corporations and small partnerships to large national and international corporations and insurers. He received a 2005 Burton Award for excellence in legal writing for an article he co-authored with Peter Gallagher about discovery in aid of foreign litigation.
